The 2018 SNI Wood Council Awards Dinner wrapped up on the 11th of May 2018.
285 Attendees from across the lower North Island were entertained by Te Radar, and witnessed the presentation of 10 awards to their colleagues.
This was a great chance for members of our Council to come together and celebrate in true Kiwi style.
Winners 2018
1. Training Excellence
- Trainee of the Year 2018 – DAN KYLE ( Horne Brothers, Masterton)
This award recognises an individual’s commitment to self-development and skill achievement through industry training.
- Modern Apprentice of the Year 2018 – TROY DAVIES (BUSHLINE FOREST HARVESTING)
This award recognises an individual’s commitment to self-development and skill achievement through the modern apprenticeship programme.
- Training Company/Contractor of the Year 2018 – HORNE BROTHERS (MASTERTON)
This award recognises a company/contractor that demonstrate a successful and purposeful commitment to people development through industry training. The winner can demonstrate a consistent training programme, culture and vision.
2. Skilled Professionals
- Harvesting Excellence 2018- AARON BAUMER (DAWSON & HAVARD, MASTERTON)
This award recognises an individual who demonstrates an excel-lence across a range of skills within harvesting beyond best practise guidelines.
- Forestry Excellence (Silviculture) 2018 – WAISAKE SABUTU (WAIRARAPA FORESTRY SERVICES, MASTERTON)
This award recognises an individual who works within forest silvi-culture operations and demonstrates excellence beyond best practise guidelines.
- Distribution Excellence 2018 – CRAIG ALLEN (C3, MASTERTON)
This award recognises an individual who works within the forest distribution chain and demonstrates excellence beyond best practise guidelines.
3. Industry Excellence
- Contractor of the Year 2018 – DAWSON & HAVARD (MASTERTON)
This award recognises the entire team or company which provides out-standing service to the forestry industry.
- Outstanding Health & Safety Management 2018 – TARANAKI SAFE START (STRATFORD)
This award recognises performance of an individual or company that demonstrates above and beyond the general compliance of health and safety policies and regulations within the forestry industry.
- Outstanding Environmental Management 2018 – DAWSON & HAVARD (MASTERTON)
This award recognises performance of an individual or company that demonstrates above and beyond the general compliance of environ-mental policies and regulations within the forestry industry.
- Contribution to the Forestry Industry 2018 – BERT HUGHES (FOREST ENTERPRISES LTD, MASTERTON)
This award recognises performance of an individual who has made a significant contribution to the forestry industry within the Southern North Island region.
